Yes, this is technically a day early. I know.

But because there won’t be anything posted tomorrow: Welcome to the end of NaNoWriMo.

It’s been a hard slog for most of us, I expect, whether you made it to your goal or not. Congratulations for sticking through it!

And congratulations especially if you stuck with it despite knowing that you couldn’t finish your goal on time. That’s often the hardest of all – to keep working at something you’re not going to accomplish, not because you think you’ll catch up, but because you know that you’ll get something out of continuing anyway.

So, at this point, it’s important not that you “won” or “lost” NaNo – it’s all about what you got from the experience. Did you set a personal record at something? Try a new skill? Make progress on a project that you’ve been stalled on for ages? Start a new project that you’ve been putting off?

Whatever it is, I hope It made it worth doing NaNo.

And if you didn’t learn anything, or only learned that something doesn’t work for you?

Well, in that case, I hope you have fun. Enjoy the last day, enjoy the last of the memes, and give yourself a well-earned day off after you’re done.

Next week, we’ll return to your regularly-scheduled programming.
